Is it OK for JW employees to sell lottery tickets?
by Iamallcool ini do remember reading an article that it is not ok for jw to sell cigarettes at gas stations, etc... i was wondering what about lottery tickets?
they do sell lottery tickets at few restaurants around my home.
if jw works there and rats me out to the elders, i would not give a damn about it but i still prefer not to hear from the elders about it..

It reminds me of the Minister who preached about the evil of playing the lottery, his wife won. His next sermon, how God work in mysterious
ways. Article "The minister's wife and lotto, A little sin pays off for church". Feb.3, 1988 BY Hugh Dellios...LOL
And yes schnell they would accept it as a blessing from Jehovah......Lamallcool:Not one cent would they receive from me.

How long did people like Methuselah really live?
by dubstepped ini was working today and my brain was working in circles like it often does and i started wondering about what i was always told about people like methuselah in bible times, and their incredibly claims of longevity.
i've tried researching things but have a hard time getting through all of the bible thumpers to some real evidence, and figured that some here may be more informed or have done the research previously.
so, did people really live longer way back when?

I'am 70 and my ass is worn-out......I bet you they didn't have Viagra in those days, can you imagine two 500 year old engaged in sex, I would hate to think about it......Mom and Dad please we don't need any more brothers and sisters, hell our baby brother age is 200.. Don't you think enough is enough, we only live in a two bed room shotgun shack and one out door toilet.

The brothers I know that were raised in the city will have a hell of time working the fields from sunrise to sunset and the sisters slaving over a wooden stove all day, good luck with that.

Why do some Jehovah's Witnesses choose to be atheist or agnostic?
by Cassaruby in"traumatic as the initial transition may be, it can lead to the development of a truly personal relationship with these two greatest friends [the father and the son] .
.. "whatever sense of 'belonging' that membership in some religious system may create, it can never compare with the power and beauty and strengthening benefit of the intimate personal relationship the scripture presents .
from reading joseph campbell i've come to understand that there are functions to religion or mythology.

It is so annoying to be around a person that believe they know it all, it's refreshing to say "I don't know the answers for all of life mysteries".

I love oat meal, but three times a day that's a little too much. I wonder what manna taste like, maybe chicken.....
OK I found it, manna tasted like a pastry cooked with the finest oil. Numbers 11:7-8...

Rank & File Reaction to Leah Remini Series
by freemindfade inwife and i have watched the whole series and just finished episode 7 last night.
personally, i am seeing a great deal more subtle and day to day similarities to watchtower than the obvious ones i already knew existed, ie shunning.
very eye opening and heartbreaking, even more so than going clear in my mind.
